The series of collages titled "when wilted lilies become see-through" represents my ongoing interest in these flowers as both a form and shape, and an alchemical symbol. The images explore the visual qualities of the lilies, which become transparent, and the symbolism associated with them.
The work is informed by a personal experience of death and the grieving process. By juxtaposing beauty and decay, it explores the coexistence of the two elements.
In each collage, several photographic images are layered, alternating between sharp and blurred perspectives.
